Navigating “Midjourney Gratis”: What You Need to Know About Free Access

If you are looking into Midjourney gratis (free Midjourney access), you are likely hoping to test out one of the most powerful AI image generators in the world without having to input your credit card details immediately.

Because the landscape of AI tools shifts quickly, it helps to know exactly what is available, what the official rules are, and where you might run into outdated information online.

The Current Reality: Is Midjourney Free?

The short answer is no, Midjourney does not offer a permanent free plan, and its standard web and Discord platforms do not include open free trials.

In the past, Midjourney offered a generous trial period for anyone joining through Discord. However, due to extremely high demand and systemic trial abuse, that option was removed. Today, standard access requires a paid subscription, with entry-level plans starting around $10 a month.

The Exception: The niji·journey Mobile App

If you are strictly searching for an official, zero-cost way to test the engine, there is one recognized exception documented by the platform:

• The Mobile App Route: Midjourney’s official documentation notes that a limited trial (often around 20 free generations for eligible new users) is available through the niji·journey app for iOS and Android devices.
• How it works: You can download the official application, sign up, and check if the promotional generation credits are active on your new account before deciding whether to upgrade.

Watch Out for Common Misconceptions

When searching for free tools online, you will likely encounter various claims or workarounds. It is smart to keep these points in mind:

• Old YouTube Tutorials: Many video guides and blog posts from past years still claim you can type prompts for free inside the official Midjourney Discord server. These methods are outdated; trying them today will usually prompt a paywall message.
• Third-Party “Free” Generators: Be cautious of external websites claiming to offer free unlimited Midjourney access. Official Midjourney generation runs strictly through its authorized apps, website, and Discord bot—unauthorized third-party sites can sometimes be insecure or misleading.
