A Musical Heritage: The Children of Gospel Legends Jeff and Sheri Easter

In the world of Southern Gospel and country-gospel music, few names carry as much warmth, history, and pedigree as Jeff and Sheri Easter. Hailing from musical royalty—with Jeff being the son of James Easter of The Easter Brothers and Sheri coming from the legendary Lewis Family—the couple has spent decades cementing their own legacy.

However, ask Jeff and Sheri what their proudest accomplishment is, and they will invariably point away from the Dove Awards, Grammy nominations, and Gaither Homecoming stages, turning instead toward their family. Together, they raised three children—Madison, Morgan, and Maura—who have each inherited the family’s deep love for music, faith, and storytelling.

Growing Up on the Bus: The Next Generation

For the Easter children, tour buses, soundchecks, and backstage green rooms weren’t extraordinary exceptions—they were simply home. Jeff and Sheri famously balanced a rigorous, full-time touring schedule with raising a family, choosing to bring their children on the road rather than leaving them behind.

This unique upbringing forged an unbreakable bond among the siblings and immersed them in the gospel music community from infancy. Rather than shying away from the family business, all three children naturally gravitated toward the stage, developing their own distinct artistic identities.

Meet the Easter Children

1. Madison Easter

As the oldest of the three siblings, Madison grew up bearing the initial wave of big-brother responsibilities while navigating life on tour. Highly talented musically, he became an integral part of the family’s touring band, showcasing remarkable multi-instrumental skills (including being named Musician of the Year by the Singing News Fan Awards).

After touring full-time with his parents for 26 years, Madison transitioned off the heavy road schedule to focus on new chapters. He and his wife, Shannon, settled in Los Angeles, California, where they continue to pursue music, writing, and recording, carrying forward the family’s creative torch on the West Coast.

2. Morgan Easter

Morgan caught the attention of gospel music fans at an astonishingly young age, releasing her first album at just five years old and her second at age nine. Known for possessing a strikingly rich and gorgeous voice, she carved out a celebrated space for herself in the genre, earning accolades such as the Horizon Individual award and Young Artist honors at the Singing News Fan Awards.

Morgan married Landan Smith, who famously played drums for Jeff and Sheri’s band for many years (having started touring with them full-time as a teenager). Continuing the cycle of multi-generational music, Morgan and Landan welcomed a daughter named Ryman Pauline, keeping the family laughter and artistry thriving.

3. Maura Grace Easter

As the youngest member of the family, Maura literally grew up in the spotlight—making her first stage appearance when she was just 11 days old. Alongside her undeniable vocal talents, Maura has always possessed a deep passion for the visual and performing arts, often expressing herself through drawing and musical theater. Being the baby of the family, she spent her formative years traveling the highways and concert halls alongside her parents, representing the fresh, modern face of the Easter family ministry.

A Legacy of Faith and Resilience

What makes the story of Jeff, Sheri, and their children so resonant with fans isn’t just the harmony they create around a microphone, but the authenticity of their lives offstage. The family has weathered various seasons of life—including health challenges and the natural growing pains of transitioning from kids on a bus to independent adults with families of their own—all while maintaining a close-knit, humorous, and supportive dynamic.

In interviews, the children frequently credit their parents not just for musical mentorship, but for instilling a grounded work ethic and a genuine love for people. Madison, Morgan, and Maura prove that when faith and family are placed at the center, a musical heritage becomes much more than a career path—it becomes a living, breathing tradition passed lovingly from one generation to the next.
